Hello all!
The youtube-dl package is intermittently maintained, see this long post:
https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl/issues/29965
YT is infamous for changing its API behavior and sure enough, a couple of months ago my downloads slowed down tremendously as in 10x. For large videos this is extra painful. Youtube-dl does not seem to have a way of overcoming this issue.
Fortunately a fork named yt-dlp is progressing and works for me:
