Jim

My history with computers goes back to the early 1980s when my family got a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A home computer & peripherals and later an Atari 800 computer that we made extensive use of, including productivity applications, games, and some simple BASIC programming. I’m a fairly recent convert who made the switch to Linux and specifically Linux Mint in October 2023 after decades of using nearly every version of Windows. I was already a proponent of free and open source software using popular apps like Firefox and Thunderbird in my workflow, so the transition was relatively easy.

I watch and listen to a lot of Linux podcasts and participate in a couple of online LUGs, and I’ve more recently become interested in the BSD operating systems since installing GhostBSD on one of my desktops. I jumped at the opportunity to join the mintCast as a host after participating in one of the Roundtables, and it has been a rewarding experience to have a group of like-minded people to talk tech with.

I’ve also published a few episodes of my own solo Linux podcast on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@TheLinuxShortcut.

I go by GNU2Linux on Discord and Matrix, and can be reached by email at [email protected], and found on Mastodon at https://fosstodon.org/@thelinuxshortcut

You can find me on Matrix as @bokehphilia, Discord as @gnu2linux, email at [email protected], and Mastodon at fosstodon.org/@thelinuxshortcut.
