Thank you for sharing your knowledge about free, used and so on regarding RAM memory usage. The reason I started to dig into this was for a low spec laptop (2 GB RAM). I plan to update my blog post both the text as well as graphs and some new tests, hoping plans comes true. This laptop is a low price low spec laptop, with Win 10 pre-installed, but really the laptop manufacturer should be ashamed it soon became basically impossible to update Win 10 (32 GB drive). A bit like Mike in this episode, this triggered me to finally try and install Linux, something I have thought of doing almost since Linus invented it. This laptop that was impossible for its original Win 10 was easy peasy for Linux Mint and other, no problem to install and update! And the 2 GB RAM is ok for the simple tasks. I never inteded this laptop to be my main machine, but for some additional purposes it is just fine.

Follow up on my own comment… I have done a major revision of my test report article regarding How RAM memory hungry are Linux distros? It is better and more accurate now although not perfect. Improved not at least thanks to your comments, Mint Cast team. Maybe I am most satisfied with my addition of a load test with a graph which helps to understand the “top” command, inspired by a Leo suggestion.
