News:
- SteamOS could really help desktop Linux adoption, says Torvalds – Valve’s Steam efforts could be a big opportunity to drive desktop Linux because it could force the various desktop Linux distributions to standardize their technology. (pcworld.com)
- Closing Doors – Posted on October 24, 2013 – “It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the closure of SolusOS. Simply put, there is no longer enough manpower to fulfill the vision. What began as a Debian derivative evolved into an independent distribution, without the large development team required to back such an effort.”

As one of your tens of faithful listeners for a couple episodes now, I wanna suggest that you have a look at Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 one of these days. The game is afoot in this distro, it’s got a classy look, stable and zippy on my dino 2-core laptop, and has a Classic mode (at login) that eliminates some goofy features. Gnome 3.8 desktop. Kernel 3.11. My first venture into the much-derided Gnome, and hey presto! it’s quite all right!
Hi Tony, I’m looking at Xubuntu 13.10. Not the same desktop but wow… I think it’s the quickest boot of a full distro I’ve ever seen! And on a spinning disk.
Since I’m quite the luddite and procrastinator, I may just hang onto Ubuntu 10.04 until Xubuntu 14.04 LTS. 🙂
Hi guys, just caught this and had a read.
Just to clarify; I didn’t stop SolusOS due to having a job. I started this job a good 6 months ago. My reasoning is exactly as I said, too much, and too little time.
I apologize for having disappointed the community, and yourselves.
Note I had several jobs during the duration of SolusOS’s life time.
The various git repos for SolusOS can all be found on https://github.com/SolusOS-discontinued/
Thanks.
